      Note to applicants:
      Interns in the Consulting Services department of our organization will work out of the GACC Midwest office in Chicago. As such, applicants must either currently reside in the Greater Chicago Area or be available for relocation, before the start of the internship.

      Compensation: $2825/month
      Duration: 9-12 months

      The mission of the German American Chamber of Commerce of the Midwest (GACC Midwest) is to promote and assist bilateral trade and investment between Germany and the United States. All internships offer the opportunity to gain work experience in a truly bilingual and bicultural environment, with support from colleagues that can help speed the learning curve of understanding intercultural differences and nuances.       This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in marketing and communications, with a strong focus on the B2B sector. You’ll support our Consulting Services team in creating compelling visual content across digital platforms, from engaging social media graphics to small website design projects for our clients.

      What You’ll Do:

      • Assist in creating social media strategies and developing monthly content plans for clients across various industries
      • Design eye-catching original social media visuals tailored to a U.S. audience
      • Produce a variety of digital marketing materials, including newsletters, brochures, flyers, and pitch decks
      • Research and source imagery, including stock photos and visual assets
      • Gain insights into copywriting and overall marketing processes
      • Participate in client meetings to gain firsthand experience in communication, briefing, and project coordination
      • Optional: conceptualize and build basic websites and landing pages

      What You Bring:

      • Proficiency in using Canva and Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign)
      • Experience in designing and publishing original social media assets (static feed posts, story formats, etc.)
      • A creative eye for layout, typography, and visual consistency
      • High proficiency in English, with advanced German language skills due to frequent interactions with German-speaking clients
      • Strong organization and project management skills
      • Basic understanding of web design principles with the ability to create simple websites and landing pages using common CMS platforms such as WordPress or TYPO3 is a plus
      • Photo and video editing skills are a plus
      • Ability to write clear and engaging copy is a plus
      • A portfolio or sample work is a plus (student projects welcome)
