Position Overview
The Marketplace Broker Coordinator is responsible for broker relations and management for the Get Covered Illinois (GCI) marketplace. The Coordinator will work directly with brokers operating on the GCI marketplace by providing technical assistance and resources to brokers, will help brokers remain in good standing with GCI and the Department of Insurance, and will ensure brokers provide excellent service to marketplace consumers. The Coordinator will work extensively with the Marketplace Grants & Partner Certification Manager and other GCI and Department of Insurance staff on broker programs and help recruit and retain brokers to better serve consumers purchasing coverage on the GCI marketplace. The Coordinator will also work with GCI and Department of Insurance leadership to help set broker policies and proactively improve broker initiatives and regulations. The Coordinator will work to further the GCI’s mission. We invite all qualified persons to apply.

Essential Functions
• Under the direction of the Marketplace Outreach and Partner Relations Director, serves as Marketplace Broker Coordinator for the State-Based Marketplace Division.
• Collaborates with Marketplace Outreach and Partner Relations Director on broker oversight initiatives.
• Collaborates with GCI and Department leadership on marketplace broker policy and rulemaking.
• Collaborates with GCI and Department leadership on broker recruitment & retention.
• Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.Minimum Qualifications
• Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college, preferably with courses in business or public administration.
• Requires one (1) year of responsible administrative experience in a public or business organization, or completion of an agency approved professional management training programPreferred Qualifications
• Prefers one (1) year working as an insurance broker or working with insurance brokers.
• Prefers one (1) year of experience within in an insurance setting.
• Prefers two (2) years of experience with both internal and external communications.
• Prefers a working knowledge of the Affordable Care Act.
• Prefers a working knowledge of the Illinois Insurance Code.
• Prefers a working knowledge of the Illinois health insurance landscape.
• Prefers experience working with outside entities, consultants, and advocacy groups.
• Prefers experience with reporting targeted data and presenting clear and concise information.
• Prefers experience with Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and other Microsoft products.
• Prefers a working knowledge of the Illinois legislative and rulemaking process.Specialized Skills
• Of the one (1) year of experience above, requires one (1) year of experience working as an insurance broker or working with insurance brokers.
Conditions of Employment
• Requires the ability to pass a background check.
• Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate.
