      Description:

      Marsh McLennan (MMC) is seeking an in-house counsel to serve the legal needs of its Marsh McLennan Agency LLC (MMA) business unit. MMA’s Legal Team is seeking the following role which will report to MMA’s General Counsel in New York. We are open to candidates located in Minneapolis, MN, Atlanta, GA and Dallas, TX.

      The Regional Counsel is responsible for providing strategic and tactical legal advice to MMA’s US/Canadian business, advising its regional leadership teams, assisting with commercial contracting and associated matters, including being familiar with corporate, privacy and technology law and related fields. Working closely with the business and other members of the Legal Team, among other duties, the Regional Counsel will:

      • Provide advisory services to assigned regional leadership teams

      • Review and negotiate a broad range of contracts for MMA including client service, vendor, and data privacy agreements

      • Provide implementation assistance and direction for spoke and fold acquisitions

      • Provide drafting, review, and integration assistance for M&A acquisitions

      • Coordinate with other Regional Counsel in developing and implementing cross-regional initiatives

      • Communicate company and legal department policies and approval processes to in-house clients

      We will count on you to:

      • Serve as a trusted advisor to executive and senior regional leadership teams

      • Draft and negotiate a wide variety of commercial agreements with clients and vendors from all industry sectors

      • Contribute to Marsh McLennan Agency’s acquisition strategy by providing drafting, review, due diligence and integration assistance

      • Advise on legal, regulatory, and business risks related to the Marsh McLennan Agency business

      • Contribute to and reinforce the Marsh McLennan Legal, Compliance & Public Affairs (“LCPA”) Department’s Strategic Plan and initiatives that impact the LCPA organization

      • Demonstrate strong written and oral communications skills

      • Collaborate effectively with business, operations and legal and compliance colleagues

      • Promote an ethical culture where employees are encouraged to voice their concerns and opinions

      • Above all, exercise sound judgment

      What you need to have:

      • At least 7 years’ experience at a law firm or in-house at a reputable company

      • Familiarity and experience with the insurance industry

      • Law degree from an accredited law school

      • Member of the Bar of a US state

      Marsh McLennan is committed to hybrid work, which includes the flexibility of working remotely and the collaboration, connections and professional development benefits of working together in the office. All Marsh McLennan colleagues are expected to be in their local office or working onsite with clients at least three days per week. Office-based teams will identify at least one “anchor day” per week on which their full team will be together in person.

      The applicable base salary range for this role is $162,300 to $324,500.

      The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
