      Marylyn Mayo Intern Project Management Assist/ Intern)

      Summary: Part-time administrative support role to the Exhibitions and Projects Manager at Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki.

      Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki is a cultural leader in Aotearoa New Zealand. The Gallery's vision is to be the home of art for Auckland, its people and visitors to its internationally recognised award-winning building. Established in 1888, the Gallery holds a preeminent collection of New Zealand art and a significant collection of international art, and presents a dynamic programme of temporary exhibitions, public engagement and outreach activities.

      An opportunity has arisen for a part-time Project Management Assist to support the Exhibitions and Projects Manager in the successful delivery of the Gallery’s new triennial exhibition of contemporary New Zealand art, Aotearoa Contemporary.

      The position will also support the Curatorial and Exhibitions Coordinator on the delivery of the long-running nationally significant award, The Walter’s Prize.

      This is a fixed term internship from approx. mid-March – 25 October 2024.

      He kōrero mōu: About you

      Passionate about contemporary art and artists, you will have excellent administrative and organisational skills. You will be comfortable working with a wider range of individuals and job roles, establishing the critical path and milestones for their deliverables, monitoring progress, and raising issues and risks when required. Calm under pressure, you will have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and be able to use your negotiation and influencing skills to enable a team to achieve deadlines, to a high level of finish, on budget. Strong relationship building skills are essential as you will work on team projects with a diverse range of people within and outside of the organisation. You will take pride in demonstrating professional integrity and maintaining confidentiality.

      You will have:

      • A graduate qualification in visual arts, art history, design, museum studies, or related field.
      • Experience working on collaborative projects in a gallery/museum, or similar environment.
      • Experience managing and monitoring budgets.
      • Experience working with artists, curators, performers, designers, or other cultural sector workers.
      • Experience or a strong interest in project management in the cultural sector.
      • Experience using project management software (Asana, MS Project) is desirable.
      • Experience using accounting software (SAP, Ungerboeck) is desirable.
      • Experience in using Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook)

      You will work standard business hours, although you may be required to work on evenings or weekends on an occasional basis to support events.

      (Band D) $52 – 55,000k pro rata per annum based on skillset and experience.
