      Position: Mascot

      Job Summary:

      Mascots are responsible for daily on going fun and interaction with our guest while wearing the mascot costume. Mascots must be outgoing individuals who work well with others, including children and guest of all ages. They must be in good physical condition to both wear heavy costumes and stand or walk for extended periods of time. Mascots must be able to read social cues to understand the level of interaction each guest may want. Mascots must act in character while in the costume using appropriate hand and body gestures. Mascots must develop the character they are wearing for the property. Responsible for the overall smooth operations of shows, interactions with guest, parties, and ensures a strong focus on an optimal Guest experience. Complies with all department and company policies, procedures, internal controls and government regulations. May be trained in other areas of the fun park as needed. Creates and maintains an atmosphere that induces guest to make Paradise Pier their entertainment choice on the Gulf Coast and maintains a high standard of employee relations at all times. Maintains a high quality property appearance at all times. Ensures efficient quality service. Remains in compliance with all department and company policies and procedures, internal controls and government relations. Adheres to department budget. May attend periodic meetings and training sessions. Welcomes and greets arriving and departing guests. Proactively provides our guests with personal service and attention that exceeds their expectations. Accountable for maintaining high service and quality standards according to brand standards, including Quality Assurance Inspections and Guest Satisfaction Surveys. Ensure that the company’s Mission Statement and Vision Statement are continuously met.

      Job Duties: Daily Operations

      As the Redemption Attendant your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

      • Constant execution of Paradise Pier standards and policies.
      • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of all costumes.
      • Use appropriate and respectful gestures with Guest, Team Members, and Managers at all times.
      • Ensure excellent relations with guests and other team members.
      • Understand, comply with:
      • All Company policies, procedures, and operating standards.
      • All f eder al / state/local laws and ordinances.
      • Ensure a high standard of service efficiency, sanitation, and training.
      • Complete required and ongoing training for the position.
      • Assist management in training new Team Members within department when applicable.
      • Prioritize and complete all assigned station task, sidework, and station set up for maximum productively and efficiency.
      • Complete all opening, running, and closing duties.
      • Ask for help whenever it is needed.
      • Ensure a harassment-free environment through proper personal conduct.
      • Respond appropriately in emergency situations to avoid danger to self, Team Members, and Guests; remain calm at all times.
      • Understand, comply with, and enforce all company policies and procedures.
      • Communicate and establish rapport with Guests.
      • Understand and utilize all safety and sanitation practices as defined in the safety program; report any accidents.
      • Have strong knowledge of hotel facilities and services, and local attractions.
      • Accountable for maintaining high service and quality standards according to brand standards, including Quality Assurance Inspections and Guest Satisfaction Surveys.
      • Other duties as required or assigned.

      Employees must be able to relate to other people beyond giving and receiving of instructions: (a) can get along with co- workers or peers without exhibiting behavioral extremes and (b) respond appropriately to criticism from a supervisor.

      Qualifications:

      • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each responsibility satisfactorily.       • 1 year experience in guest service or working in some aspect of the guest service industry preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
      • Good reading, writing, mathematical and communication skills.
      • Ability to interact professionally with other departments and outside contacts.
      • Ability to complete a heavy workload and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
      • Good judgment and decision making abilities.

      Physical Requirements:

      • On a continuous basis, stand or sit for long periods of time, intermittently twist to reach equipment or supplies, perform simple grasping and fine manipulation; use telephone and computer keyboard on a daily basis.
      • The incumbent should be able to stand continuously for entire shift.
      • Incumbent must be able to communicate clearly.
      • Long hours sometimes may be required. Medium work – Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 30 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
      • Must be able to wear entire costume in all types of indoor and outdoor weather to include: hot, humid, rainy, cold, windy, etc.
      • Pushing, pulling and lifting objects from lower to higher position or higher to lower position or moving objects horizontally, from position to position and be able to grasp objects while bending, stooping, standing, sitting or walking,
      • Will be required to maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling while walking, standing or crouching in narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces.
      • Climbing and ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps.
      • Hearing sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction.
      • Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus both indoors and outdoors.
      • Occasional travel for training purposes or other business needs.
      • May be required to work, in a changing indoor and outdoor environment, such as bright sunlight, noise, wind, rain, cold, snow, heat, smoke etc.
      • Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly.
      • Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.
      • Must work well in stressful, high-pressure situations.
      • Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying the concerns and issues raised by coworkers, guest, and members.
      • Ability to perform assigned duties with attention to detail, speed, accuracy, follow-through, courtesy, and cooperativeness.
