  Position Highlights	University Facility Services at the University of Arizona is seeking a skilled Mason to join our dedicated Labor/Mason Crew. This role involves performing a variety of masonry and concrete-related tasks, including laying brick, block, and concrete, and constructing or repairing surfaces and structures across campus. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working outdoors in varying conditions, including extreme heat and less-than-clean environments, while contributing to the maintenance and improvement of our university grounds.   Duties & Responsibilities	Duties and Responsibilities: Fabricates, alters, repairs and maintains walls, sidewalks, street curbs, and other related structures or surfaces. Cuts or breaks bricks and concrete using hammers, powered abrasive saws, paving breakers, drills and/or hand tools. Molds expansion joints and edges using edging tools, jointers and straightedge. Prepares surfaces prior to beginning work. Operates equipment such as forklift, dump truck and flatbed. Read blueprints, layout and form for concrete pads. Determines work requirements and sequence of masonry/concrete assignments through review of work orders, plans or drawings. Lays out work using chalk lines, plumb bobs, tapes, squares and levels. Estimates materials and labor. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of masonry techniques, including bricklaying, block laying, stone setting, and concrete finishing. Knowledge of construction safety standards and OSHA regulations. Skilled in operating masonry tools and machinery, such as brick saws and concrete mixers. Skilled in laying bricks, blocks, and stones in precise patterns and designs. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings. Ability to lift and carry heavy materials and equipment (often 50 lbs or more). Ability to work in various environmental conditions (heat, cold, heights). Ability to maintain attention to detail for high-quality craftsmanship.
  Minimum Qualifications	High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required. Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience. In addition to the education and experience minimum qualifications, Apprenticeship program, technical training experience required. Must have a valid driver’s license and ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy .
  Preferred Qualifications	Previous experience working in a college/university setting. OSHA and Masonry certifications.
