      ABOUT THE POSITION

      Fairchild Equipment, Inc. is seeking a stable, hard-working, dependable and motivated Material Handling/Cartage Coordinator for our Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin branch. This dynamic, dual-role position will be responsible for both physical material handling (30%) and coordinating cartage and logistics operations (70%). This ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with strong organizational skills and a focus on customer service and operational efficiency.       ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF MATERIAL HANDLER:

      • Load and unload incoming and outgoing materials, products, and freight using appropriate handling equipment.
      • Verify the accuracy of shipments against bills of lading, delivery documents, and outbound load requirements.
      • Transport materials between loading docks, delivery vehicles, storage areas, and designated workstations.
      • Accurately identify, label, and record material locations within the warehouse to support effective inventory management.
      • Prepare outgoing shipments by locating products, packing items securely, and loading them according to established schedules.
      • Ensure full compliance with warehouse safety policies, procedures, and best practices.
      • Maintain accuracy across all inventory records within the department’s scope of responsibility.
      • Use safe lifting techniques and proper ergonomics when handling heavy or bulky items.
      • Operate material handling equipment such as pallet jacks, forklifts, and other warehouse machinery safely and efficiently.
      • Load products onto designated trailers, ensuring accuracy and timeliness based on shipping schedules.
      • Maintain precise and up-to-date documentation, including bills of lading and shipping logs.
      • Adhere to all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to receiving, staging, loading, and shipping processes.
      • Sort, label, and organize freight for efficient handling and easy retrieval.
      • Conduct routine inspections and basic maintenance of equipment to ensure operational readiness and safety.

      ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF CARTAGE COORDINATOR

      • Manage the timely and accurate movement of freight in accordance with customer and operational requirements.
      • Create, review, and verify bills of lading to ensure documentation accuracy and compliance.
      • Track, trace, and monitor all incoming and outgoing shipments to ensure on-time pickups and deliveries.
      • Maintain proactive communication with internal departments and external customers to coordinate logistics and address service needs.
      • Ensure prompt execution of all scheduled pickups and deliveries across all product lines.
      • Monitor workflow using internal dashboards and tools to prioritize tasks and maintain efficiency.
      • Investigate shipment delays, identify root causes, apply appropriate exception codes, and report findings.
      • Perform accurate and timely data entry to ensure integrity of shipment and tracking information.
      • Foster and maintain strong working relationships with customers, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
      • Collaborate with product teams to meet service deadlines and accommodate any special handling or delivery requirements.
      • Receive training to support and serve as a backup for the Rental Coordination team as needed, under the direction of the Rental Manager.
      • Demonstrate flexibility and a proactive attitude by willingly accepting new roles and responsibilities as assigned by the direct manager or management team.

      REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

      • Ability to follow instructions and work independently with little guidance.
      • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
      • Ability to organize, multi-task, and meet deadlines.
      • Basic to moderate computer skills.
      • Adapt and work in a fast-paced environment.
      • Ability to work overtime and have flexibility to accommodate the needs of the position.

      EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

      • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
      • Certification to operate lift truck preferred.
      • Experience working in a warehouse setting or in logistics preferred.

      PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

      • Talking- Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken word; those activities where detailed or important spoken instructions must be conveyed to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
      • Hearing- Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction and having the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication.

      Occasional physical activity of the position:

      • Climbing- ascending or descending.
      • Balancing- maintaining body equilibrium.
      • Fingering- perceiving attributes of objects by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.

      The visual acuity requirements:

      • The worker is required to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles or equipment.
      • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as visual inspection involving small defects and/pr small parts.

      The conditions the worker will be submitted to in this position:

      • The worker is subject to atmospheric conditions: one or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system of the skin; fumes, orders, dusts, mists, gases, or poor ventilation.
      • The worker is subject to extreme heat: Temperatures above 100 degrees for periods of more than one hour. Consideration should be given to the effect of other environmental conditions such as wind and humidity.
      • The worker is subject to extreme cold: Temperatures below 32 degrees for periods of more than one hour. Consideration should be given to the effect of other environmental conditions such as wind and humidity.
