- Must be available all shifts.
- Associate's Degree or higher in Supply Chain Management OR 2 years of directly related experience in the shipping, material control, and/or transportation field
- Proficiency in MS Word
- Proficiency in MS Excel
- Proficient with a tape measure
- Must be competent in utilizing PC applications for Manufacturing Resources Planning (MRP), Electronic Desktop (EWP), and Inventory Tracking System (ITS); candidates must have an understanding of MRP and inventory tracking system (ITS) along with the ability to respect and maintain precise inventory accuracy
- Candidates must be flexible and willing to work in all areas of material control and warehousing
- 3+ years of related experience
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Supply Chain Management
- Strong commitment towards safety and must be able to handle/lift heavy items within safety guidelines
- Capable of operating and understanding hand held computer devices used in daily material control activities
- Detail oriented and organized
- Organizational skills, interpersonal skills and ablity to multi-task in a fast paced environment
Overview
The Material Coordinator maintains warehouse and buffer storage for all Submarine Programs, e.g. Virginia, Ohio Replacement, Moored Training Ships, PSA, Maintenance and Modernization and Virginia Class Outfitting. The Coordinator is responsible to support these programs by providing oversight and troubleshooting as well as providing cycle counts.
The successful candidate must be a decision maker and must be able to make timely accurate decisions and work independently. The Coordinator is expected, in some cases, to assign work daily to warehouse personnel based on management priorities and resolve customer questions and problems. The candidate will be required to complete monthly and bi-monthly audits of QP warehouses and buffer storage areas (inside and outside) and assist with corrective actions.
Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential to effectively interface with Management, Planners, SUPSHIP, NAVSEA, and Electric Boat vendors.
The Coordinator is expected to know, review and comply with company policies and procedures and assist warehouse personnel in resolving questions regarding subject procedures. The Coordinator will evaluate current processes and lead or support process improvement initiatives to reduce handling and warehouse cost while improving customer service.
