Job Description:
The Material Handler at Forward Air is responsible for loading and unloading freight, maintaining accurate inventory records, and organizing shipments. This role requires operating equipment like forklifts and ensuring compliance with safety standards. Experience in warehouse operations and the ability to work in various conditions are essential.
Position: Material Handler
Core Responsibilities & Duties:
• Process all aspects of materials using warehouse inventory software
• Label and ship orders according to established procedures for each customer
• Accurately pick and weigh all shipments
• Inspect freight and follow appropriate reporting procedures
• Assist with inventory and cycle counts
• Rotate and re-stock shelves according to inventory procedures
• Verify all inbound and outbound materials
• Provide prompt and accurate customer service
• Arrange and maintain filing and recording systems
• Document monthly activities for period end reporting
• Safely load and unload trailers by utilizing equipment such as hand trucks/pallet jacks and forklifts
• Shrink wrap freight pallets
• Maintain a clean and save working environment
• Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements & Qualifications:
• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Minimum of 2 years' experience of general warehouse knowledge
• Excellent customer service skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication
• Computer skills, including Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
• Warehouse Oracle Database Experience is a plus
• Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds
• Forklift Certification preferred
• Ability to work under minimal supervision
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and managersWhat We Offer:
