      Reporting to the Materials Manager, the Material Planner Principal will oversee the material planning department for the Aiken facility. The incumbent will manage the internal demands for materials and capabilities to positively impact BAE Systems programs. As a material planning principal, you will be responsible for proactive material readiness, reporting on availability, and visibility of impacts. This role requires interaction with other cross-functional teams such as, Engineering, Quality, Operations, Supply Chain, Scheduling, and Material handling.
      The Material Planner Principal will have the following duties and responsibilities:
      • Responsible for the leadership, direction and supervision of Senior & Junior Planners, Production Control Planner, and occasionally OLDP and/or Interns.
      • Responsible for tactical leadership in the materials planning department.
      • Accountable to meet or exceed the safety, quality delivery, employee and cost expectations for all internal and external customers.
      • Forecast supply with demand to execute the plan with minimal disruption.
      • Responsible for end-to-end material planning strategy to meet volume and customers’ delivery commitments.
      • Determines material resources for production plan for finished goods, convert into production requirements for subassemblies, components, and raw materials needed to produce the final product within established schedule.
      • Ensure all material releases are performed in a timely manner, and seek resolution for constraints preventing the team to meet that goal.
      • Accountable for internal communication of planning items to ensure timely and satisfactory resolution of product delivery and availability problems.
      • Advises stakeholders to the status of work in progress, material availability, and potential production problems to ensure that personnel, equipment, materials and services are provided as needed.
      • Monitors inventory levels and select best strategy to ensure material availability and delivery to customers.
      • Establish and maintain a consistent and timely approach in the development of forecasts, and measure targets for inventory levels and reductions.
      • Responsible for the leadership of a project, or portions of multiple projects, within established guidelines.
      • Demonstrated ability to lead, as well as assist and support project teams in updating their progress against their schedules and in conducting variance analysis, implementation of corrective action plans, mitigation of risks and managing baseline changes.
      • Manages and control production planning performance metrics through visual daily management standards ensuring alignment with manufacturing needs.
      • Liaises with internal and external customers to ensure delivery metrics are met.
      • Maintains and reviews processes to ensure business continuity as well as to ensure all requirements are compliant with internal and external regulations.
      • Briefing senior management on planning philosophy and be the key point of contact for material planning matters.
      • Recommend and implement risk mitigation for eliminating excess and obsolete inventory.
      • Negotiate and manage Kanban, consignment inventory, and supply agreements with suppliers.
      • Lead all Continuous improvement initiatives related to the materials planning department, and serve as a process champion through collaboration with other departments/sites.
