      Riverside Health has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Dietitian to join their new Maternal & Fetal Medicine medical group practice in Newport News, VA! This position will be instrumental in the impact on our community through nutritional counseling and health outcomes of women in pregnancy and their unique nutritional needs. In this role you will work in a dynamic field of Obstetrics and Maternal Fetal Medicine.

      This position is a full-time role with competitive pay and great benefits, working a schedule of Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm.


      Overview
      Provide services for Riverside Medical Group. Responsibilities include private nutritional counseling to meet the goals set forth by the Certified Diabetic Educator or other provider. Program development and communication between physicians' offices . Position provides group and individual nutrition instruction with some travel to the various assigned locations to provide these services. Develops educational nutrition resources for patients with the practice community.

      What you will do

      • Demonstrates the ability to assess, diagnose, implement and evaluate treatments and provide appropriate, individualized plan of care based on nutrition assessment and needs of the patient while following departmental policy and guidelines. Sets patient focused, measurable goals and follows up appropriately. Consistently demonstrates evidence-based competency in the physical, psychosocial, and cultural assessment of the patient and adapts care to meet the individual patient’s emotional, education, and age-specific needs.
      • Actively keeps knowledge updated and incorporates best practice and makes changes in suggested care plans per industry guidelines, etc. Shows knowledge and competency that reflects current Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) practices. Is aware of and follows guidelines related to accreditation, patient safety, etc. when caring for patients.
      • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills required to fulfill the Clinical Dietitian core role in supporting the MD and clinical staff in the provision of patient care to include, collaboration with physicians to provide for the specialized needs of the patient. Capable of recognizing and responding to variances in patient care/condition, to include notification of the Physician and team of factors that will effect their care. Information is shared with physician in a timely and accurate manner for coordination of care.
      • Consistently demonstrates the ability to maintain up to date patient documentation without frequent supervision. Submits documentation of patient care information and performs timely billing so the department can be paid for the services provided in appropriate time frame.


      Qualifications

      Education

      • High School Diploma or GED, (Required)
      • Bachelors Degree, Nutrition or closely related field (Required)


      Experience

      • Healthcare nutrition/dietetics (Preferred)


      Licenses and Certifications

      • Registered Dietician (RD) - Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) (Required)
      • Food Handlers Card (FH) - VA State - ANSI-approved Food Handlers certificate program (Preferred)
      • Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) (Preferred)
      • Certified Nutrition Support Dietitian (CNSD) (Preferred)
      • Certified Nutrition Support Dietitian (CNSD) (Preferred)
