      Up to 12 Week Assignment - The assignment may be extended based on other district needs.

      Summary:

      To create a flexible program and classroom environment favorable to learning and personal growth; to establish effective rapport with students; to motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge in accordance with each student’s ability; to establish good relationships with parents and with other staff members.

      Desired Qualifications:
      Valid Michigan Elementary Teaching Certificate.with EX (Mathematics) Endorsement (Desired)
      Meets highly qualified standards
      Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university (Desired)
      Educational experience and/or training in teaching the Michigan State Standards
      Ability to use technology in the educational setting.
      Knowledge and experience related to English Learners.
      Education experience and/or training in teaching middle school students.

      Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
      Ability to use and analyze data to improve student learning.
      Ability to use technology in the educational setting.
      Knowledge and experience related to English Learners.
      Knowledge and experience related to Sheltered Instruction.
      Knowledge and experience with the implementation of 21st Century Skills of collaboration, communication, creativity, and critical thinking.
      Knowledge and experience with Multi-tiered Systems of Support in both behavior and academics.
      Knowledge of Professional Learning Communities.
      Knowledge of the 5D instructional framework for Teaching and Learning.
      Experience in utilizing the Gradual Release Model.
      Willingness to work with a diverse community and learners.
      Participate in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops.
      Conduct ongoing assessments of student learning, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs, including students with special needs; conduct individual and small group instruction as needed.
      Encourages parental involvement in student's education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
      Coordinates with other professional staff members to evaluate and assess curriculum, and participates in staff meetings and committees.
      Ensure student conduct conforms to the school's standards and school district policies and establishes and maintain standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
      Supervises students in activities that take place outside the classroom during the school day, including activities involving school transportation.
      Ability to prepare course objectives and outline for course of study following curriculum guidelines and requirements of state and school.
      Ability to administer tests to evaluate pupil progress, record results, and issue reports to inform parents of progress.
      Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or his/her designee.
      Ability to integrate Technology.

      Physical Demands:
      While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk, hear (in a quiet or noisy environment). The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust/focus.

      Work Environment:
      The noise level in the work environment is usually loud to moderate. Work is performed indoors although there will be required outdoor activities. The employee is directly responsible for the safety, well-being, and work output of students.

      Mental Functions:
      While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to compare, analyze, communicate both orally and in writing in the English language, copy, coordinate, instruct, compute, synthesize, evaluate, use interpersonal skills, and compile and negotiate.
