The successful candidate will be a member of a thriving Community and Intermediate care divisional team which holds patients and their families central and forefront to our work. The successful candidate will be clinically credible, role model high standards of professional behavior and will be able to balance a complex workload.
Main duties of the job
To provide senior clinical leadership across 3 wards, to support and develop clinical leadership capacity in ward teams and to role model compassionate leadership and patient focus.
To provide assurance to the Assistant Director of Nursing the Division and Trust that the clinical areas you are responsible for are practicing within regulatory frameworks and escalating any concerns with regards to quality and safety.
To ensure all clinical areas are safely staffed with staff who have the required levels of skill and education and that are supported to develop and progressTo ensure there are safe systems of working in place and a safety conscious and open culture of learning exists
To contribute to the development of clinical and operational improvements and to work closely with patients, nursing, medical and therapy colleagues to innovate care delivery with a focus on independence where at all possible.

To be responsible and accountable for the overall clinical and operational day-to-day delivery of clinical standards of care and the management of the nursing workforce, in accordance with set objectives, targets, quality standards, controls and resource constraints, that ensures thedelivery of a high quality, patient centred service that meets patient need.Contributes to the development, delivery and evaluation of Trust and Group strategy within the context of the NHS Modernisation agenda. Ensure a robust professional approach to service development and improvement. Ensures that any subsequent changes to structures, services and roles are underpinned by appropriate support and on-going professional development.Supports the assistant director of nursing to provide professional leadership and management for the development, implementation and monitoring of the Strategy for Nursing & Midwifery. The corenursing team is responsible for ensuring that effective systems of work are in place to ensure the safe delivery of evidence based patient care. Support effective patient flows and management of bed resources in the Trust.
There is an expectation that the post-holder will work flexibly and cross cover annual leave, acting as an escalation point for other wards in the directorate. The matron base is flexible and matrons may be required to change areas of responsibility.
