- Responsible for organizing and supporting with programs and events in District 8 and will report to the Director of Special Events and Chief of Staff.
- Attend community meetings with the Councilmember and staff.
- Assist staff on specific topics or projects.
- Must be available on evenings and/or weekends as needed.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
- Be a District 8 or Sacramento resident
- Be fluent in languages other than English (Hmong and Spanish preferred).
- Be able to work 15-20 hours per week.
- Be able to be present on site at City Hall, at offsite events, and meetings in the District.
- Be a strong communicator.
- Be proficient in Microsoft Office & social media navigation tools.
- Be able to work in fast paced environments.
- Have a commitment to the City’s culture that focuses on diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Mayor Pro Tem Mai Vang is hiring a paid special events intern for District 8. The Special Events Intern will work closely with the team to organize and lead events and engagement efforts in the District. This is a great opportunity for a student or recent graduate seeking an entry-level position in politics or city government.
