- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Two years of experience in program coordination, project management, recruiting, advising, higher education, or related experience.
- Alternatively, two years of professional experience in the accounting field.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, listening, analytical, and written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be an effective communicator in large group (auditorium), small group (classroom), and one-on-one settings.
- Knowledge of spreadsheets and database applications.
- Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
- Master’s degree in a relevant field
- Texas A&M University program coordination or academic advising experience.
- Degree in Accounting or Accounting or finance professional work experience.
- Certified Public Accountant or similar relevant business certification
- Working knowledge/experience with Howdy, COMPASS, or other student information systems.
- Knowledge of student information systems, degree planning, and degree audits/evaluations.
- PPA Program Coordination - Coordinates and implements a variety of program initiatives to support the student-centered mission of PPA. Assists with the development and planning of key professional development and social events for current PPA students. Coach students on networking, job search techniques, and other soft skills. Communicates with current and former students on career opportunities. Engages with current and prospective employers/recruiters to coordinate involvement with program and on-campus events like tabling in the Wehner Lobby, lunch and learns, and information sessions. Represents the PPA program and college at various events and helps plan and execute James Benjamin Department of Accounting and PPA events throughout the year. Attends graduation and assists with planning a graduation party for graduating students. Assist with administration of the ACCT 484 internship course. Assist in ACCT 321 course instruction such as attending class sessions, grading, scheduling speakers, planning bootcamp sessions, etc. Liaison to Financial Aid office on behalf of program students to resolve common issues students face with managing their financial aid needs.
- Academic Advising - Provides academic advice and guidance to Accounting majors admitted in the PPA program. Provides advising via in-person appointments, walk-in availability, email, and phone. Advises students with academic, probationary, and financial concerns and determines possible courses of action. Initiates and approves and/or recommends degree plans, course substitutions, add/drops, Q-drops, withdrawals, and changes of curriculum. May monitor student probationary terms. May review and recommend readmission applications. Verifies completion of degree requirements. Designs and implements student support programs and serves as an ombudsperson to facilitate retention. Answers inquiries from and provides information to prospective students, students, and parents. Meet with and refers students to available resources and departments. Interacts with faculty and other staff members to provide an exchange of information and to enhance the advisement of students. Uses COMPASS for student registration, degree evaluation, course prerequisites, etc. Uses NAVIGATE for advising and retention notes. Uses judgement for adjustment of student records.
- Administrative - Coordinates with student technician employees to update and maintain student records in program database. Prepares various reports using tools such as ARGOS to assist with department decision-making, AASCB reporting, Deans reports, newsletters, etc. Assists in planning and monitoring the budget for department and program events under the supervision of the Director. Assist the Assistant Director with reporting to and communication with the office of graduate and professional studies (OGAPS). Serves as program liaison to Mays MARCOMM team and helps develop marketing materials including all program and departmental webpages. Assists with application process for departmental high-impact courses. Member of program scholarship committee that reviews applications, makes decisions, and attends the banquet. Represents the department, division, or University on various committees.
- Program Recruitment and Admissions - Manages and coordinates the application and admission processes for the program. Develops and revises informational materials for prospective students and recruitment functions. Assists with the development of numerous recruiting events during the program’s two annual recruiting cycles to attract students to the program, including the development and production of presentations, informational materials, and handbooks for students. Assists in planning and hosting events targeted at prospective students. Delivers presentations on the program and serves as the department representative at tables stationed at events for prospective students, such as program information sessions, class presentations, all new student conference sessions, Aggieland Saturday, Mays Career Exploration Night, and the Accounting Career Mixer. Interviews and provides input on admission decisions for the program.
