      The Opportunity:

      8 month work term: January to August 2024

      How You Will Contribute:

      Note: This is an in-person position based out of our Kanata, ON office.

      This position is for a mechanical engineering coop student to assist in the mechanical design, documentation and database management for leading edge circuit packs and optical plugs on various Ciena platforms. The platform portfolio consists of 6500-S/D, 6500-PTS, 6500-R, 6500-T, 5400, 8700, Z-series, and Waveserver . This position will provide excellent exposure to electro-optical design and documentation practices.

      • Develop mechanical design solutions for leading edge circuit packs and optical plugs that incorporate the latest technologies, are physically dense, and thermally challenged

      • Mechanical part and assembly design and drawings

      • Evaluate first samples, build prototype assemblies

      • Management and maintenance of 3D printer

      • Database management

      The Must Haves:

      • Working towards the completion of a Bachelors program in Mechanical Engineering

      • 3D design tool experience, preferably Creo or Solidworks

      • Strong analytical and design skills
