      Mechanical Design Engineer (Hybrid, Austin, TX)

      The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

      As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

      • Contributing to EMSD Product Engineering for our EBO portfolio.

      • Designing fiber optic connectors as part of our EBO portfolio

      • Interfacing with a global team and contributing to new product development and support of existing platforms

      • Ensuring technical claims in 3M published literature are accurate and supported by test data

      Your Skills and Expertise

      To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

      • Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) in an Engineering or Science discipline from an accredited institution

      • Three (3) years of technical engineering experience in a private, public, government or military environment

      Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

      • Technical Experience in Engineering/Technical skills

      • Experience with Siemens NX CAD tool

      • Minimum three (3) years of experience using 3D CAD Software (e.g. SOLIDWORKS®, Siemens NX, Pro/ENGINEER (Creo) and/or AutoCAD®)

      • Minimum five (5) years of mechanical design experience in a private, public, government or military environment

      • Experience with designing parts for plastic injection molding

      • Experience with performing Finite Element Analysis (FEA)

      • Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing and ability to create component drawing packages

      • Experience with optical fiber connector design

      • Ability to interface with suppliers and customers

      • Demonstrated ability to work and collaborate as a key member of a global team

      • Highly organized, able to multitask and work independently

      • Strong analytical ability, with attention to detail

      • Excellent communications skills (oral, written and presentation)

      Location: Hybrid (May be required to work on site at Austin, TX some days a week)

      Travel: May include up to 10% travel, domestic

      Relocation Assistance: May be authorized

      Applicable to US Applicants Only:The expected compensation range for this position is $115,607 - $141,298, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position.
