      Job Title: Mechanical Designer


      Job Description

      The Mechanical Designer will be responsible for the creation of mechanical engineering drawings and designs specific to material handling systems for the warehouse and fulfillment industry. This position requires working under the direction of the Engineering Manager and interfacing with other engineering staff, as well as collaborating with sales colleagues.

      Responsibilities

      • Produce mechanical installation drawings for conveyor and material handling projects.
      • Research and review customer specifications to ensure compliance.
      • Evaluate available as-built drawings and architectural drawings.
      • Collaborate with team members to maintain a cohesive system design.
      • Prepare prints for approval, permitting, installation, and as-built drawings.
      • Make necessary corrections and revisions to drawings to meet project requirements.
      • Report drawing status to the Project Manager or Engineering Manager to maintain project schedules.
      • Prepare drawings for customer design review and discussions.
      • Develop general arrangement drawings to meet project requirements.
      • Travel to various sites to gather field information for project needs.
      • Develop area layouts to provide direction to sales team members or outside vendors.

      Essential Skills

      • Proficiency in mechanical design and drafting.
      • Experience with Inventor and AutoCAD.
      • Knowledge of conveyor systems.
      • 3 years of experience in mechanical/structural design within the warehouse and distribution material handling industry.
      • Intermediate to advanced skills in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications.

      Additional Skills & Qualifications

      • Ability to design various subsystems within the warehouse environment, including automated systems, conveyance, storage systems, and sub-structures.
      • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
      • Strong collaboration and communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
      • Adaptability to changing priorities.
      • Ability to produce high-quality designs and drawings with minimal errors.

      Work Environment

      The role involves working in a dynamic environment where collaboration with engineering and sales colleagues is essential. The position requires travel to various sites for field information gathering. The work may be performed using technologies such as AutoCAD and Inventor, and requires adherence to project schedules and specifications.

      Pay and Benefits

      The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $40.00/hr.
