Collins Aerospace Aerostructures is looking for an aerospace Mechanical Engineer who will be responsible for all phases of supplier designed nacelle system component development (e.g. requirements, design, analysis, validation, verification, and in-service support), including integration with aircraft and engine controls systems. In addition, you will be the Point-of-Contact (POC) to international customers and suppliers.

• Position will need to work in an onsite capacity at our Chula Vista CA facility.
• Relocation assistance available.

What You Will Do

• Manage technical deliverables of suppliers
• Coordinate cross-functional, global teamwork
• Review and approve supplier design changes, and other technical documents
• Coordinate resolution of in-service issues and product improvements
• Lead failure root cause and corrective action investigations
• Communicate with external customers, and internal senior leadership regularly to resolve technical issues.
• Visit suppliers/customers as required to support investigations and testing
• Establish and mature relationships across departments for technical alignment, problem resolution and customer support (aftermarket, supply chain, program technical office)
• Communicate and present technical issues to senior level engineering leadership
• Able to travel up to 25% domestically and internationally when circumstances permit
• Perform other duties as required

Qualifications You Must Have

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 2 years prior relevant experience or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience.

• Knowledge of mechanical engineering fundamentals
• Experience with component testing and test results documentation
• Experience with aerospace component development

Qualifications We Prefer

• Experience with technical requirements management
• Proficient at tracking and managing technical deliverables across multiple competing projects
• Be creative, analytical, self-starter, energetic and work well in a team environment at all levels of organization
• Experience in RTCA DO-160 (or equivalent) qualification testing
• Experience with hydraulic, pneumatic or electrical aircraft systems integration
• Understanding of LEAN/Continuous Improvement
• Experience with failure root cause and corrective action investigations

The salary range for this role is 70,000 USD - 142,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
