- You will plan and design substantial new construction, renovation and improvement projects for a variety of real property facilities.
- You will develop plans to coordinate capacity, cost, and customer needs to determine feasibility of project.
- You will analyze mechanical needs (e.g., make calculations, sizes, select fans, pumps, compressors, boilers, chillers, exchangers) to determine mechanical equipment and systems suitable for economy and efficiency.
- You will solve complex design or build and construction problems in the creation of appropriate contract documents for Architecture/Engineering (A/E) firms.
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). You must be certified as a Career Field Facilities Engineering Level II. Certification is required within 24 months of appointment.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain professional engineering registration.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or Energy Manager In Training (EMIT) certification within 24 months of start date.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States drivers license.
- You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.

Qualifications
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Using computer aided design programs (e.g., AUTOCAD, Maximo, Cost Works, etc.) to draft sketches for mechanical engineering project designs; 2) Developing mechanical engineering designs, plans, specifications and cost estimates for facility projects; 3) Using mechanical engineering design principles, guidelines and criteria to review construction plans and specifications for a variety of facility infrastructure [e.g., chillers, boilers, high and low pressure air compressors, HVAC systems, fans, pumps, exchangers, and direct digital controls (DDC)].
