      Your Team

      You will develop creative solutions to challenging problems associated with the design of our new and existing infusion system product portfolio. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical capabilities, an excitement and energy for product development, and a passion for their work and the impact it has on saving and sustaining the lives of patients.

      What you'll be doing

      • Supports development of design requirements and hardware specifications based on customer or user requirements.
      • Contributes to development and documentation of mechanical system architectures.
      • Supports design of complex mechanical assemblies, mechanisms, and component parts for electro-mechanical medical devices meeting performance objectives.
      • Adept knowledge on Plastics, Sheet metal & casting part designs as per mfg. guidelines. Knowledge of DFM, DFA.
      • Knowledge of drive mechanisms like gears, leadscrews, and fluid mechanics
      • Performs mechanical analysis and calculations including tolerance analysis, load and fatigue life analysis, and thermal and heat transfer modeling to ensure consistent performance in safety critical applications.
      • Ensures successful integration of mechanical design elements with electrical and consumable components.
      • Completes deliverables related to integration of designs from sub-system design teams and external partners.
      • Contributes to troubleshooting and problem-solving efforts related to mechanical aspects of the design and interfaces with other design constituents.
      • Able to effectively transition products to manufacturing and ensure robust products and manufacturing processes.
      • Improves mechanical and electromechanical designs to optimize for production, reliability, regulatory compliance and cost.
      • Supports resolution of competing constraints between interrelated functions (engineering, purchasing, manufacturing, regulatory, marketing, etc.) required to deliver the product to market.
      • Defines protocols and conducts the necessary testing required to validate the safety and effectiveness of design(s).

      What you'll bring

      • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or related engineering focus area with 3-5+ years of related experience. Prior experience in the medical or infusion pump domain is a plus.
      • Able to clearly and accurately present technical data, ideas and basic engineering concepts to peers and first-line management within the department. Comfortable with developing and delivering presentations within project team environment.
      • Experience with statistical analysis and product/process qualification; experience with Minitab, Matlab or other statistics software.
      • A proven track record of effectiveness in a fast-paced environment.
      • Knowledge and experience using CAD systems for mechanical design and analysis especially surface/solid modelling, Master modelling (Solidworks, preferred).
      • Knowledge of standards such as IEC 60601, ANSI and ASTM preferred.
      • Proven ability to create results within budget, timeline, and product/project deliverables.

At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $80,000 to $120,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
