Mechanical Engineer - Innovating the Future of Defense Technology

Consumer technology is advancing rapidly with smaller, more affordable, and efficient devices. Meanwhile, U.S. defense technology continues to follow a traditional, centralized, and costly model. Despite significant investments in air, land, and sea machinery, these large assets remain vulnerable to small, agile threats. As swarm technology develops, the asymmetry will become even more pronounced, especially in the realm of small unmanned aerial systems (sUAS), commonly known as drones.

We are looking for a talented and driven Mechanical Engineer to join a rapidly growing startup focused on redefining defense technology. In this role, you will have the opportunity to own key components of our products, from the conceptual design phase through to production. This position reports directly to the Head of Engineering and is perfect for someone who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

      What You Will Be Doing:

      • Take ownership of all aspects of hardware design to optimize performance, manufacturability, and cost.
      • Perform detailed design trades using 3D modeling software, FEA tools, and engineering principles.
      • Design, develop, and implement production tooling and equipment.
      • Develop and refine process documentation, including build instructions, test and validation procedures, health and safety standards, and mBOMs.
      • Participate in design reviews to ensure designs are optimized for manufacturing (DFM).
      • Create, maintain, and communicate detailed production plans and schedules to relevant teams.
      • Analyze and resolve manufacturing issues and non-conformances.
      • Mentor and train peers and colleagues to develop their skills and expertise.

      You Should Have:

      • A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
      • 3+ years of experience in fast-paced engineering or manufacturing environments.
      • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to apply first principles thinking to complex engineering challenges.
      • Proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks or NX.
      • Experience in developing, designing, and improving tooling to optimize manufacturing and production lines.
      • Proven ability to oversee the introduction and implementation of new products and manufacturing capabilities.

If you are ready to make a real impact on the future of defense technology and thrive in an innovative, startup environment, we want to hear from you!
