      Job Overview

      Komatsu are currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our team. The placement is based at our core NSW operational facility, located in Moss Vale or our Wollongong office.


      Reporting to one of our Engineering Managers, you will work as an integrated member of our team and is an opportunity to use your application and engineering knowledge to deliver engineered product outcomes for both new equipment and equipment rebuilds/reconfigurations. You will have direct shop floor engineering involvement at our world class manufacturing facility, and regular interaction with our customers. Our NSW facilities manufacture and rebuild world class products for Australia and overseas.

      Our Moss Vale facility hosts one of our largest Design centers with ISO 9001 Design and Development accreditation.

      Key Job Responsibilities

      • Provide engineering documentation for the successful application of our products to meet our customer needs.
      • Conduct Engineering design calculations and FEA analysis as required.
      • Assuring design quality and performance by complying with the best practices, Australian and International Standards.
      • Investigating component failure, document via written reports including courses of action to prevent future failure.
      • Communication with Manufacturing, Supply, Vendors, Account Managers and Service Engineers.
      • Initiate and participate in cost reduction and value analysis projects in an ongoing effort to reduce manufacturing costs and optimise component design. Through this process you will continually drive costs down while identifying opportunities to add value, increase safety and improve customer satisfaction.
      • Travel to customer sites in NSW & QLD as required, to work with customers on site related issues / product developments.
      • You will be dealing with a wide range of people both internally and externally, as well as interaction with colleagues in other Komatsu offices globally

      Qualifications/Requirements

      • A degree in Mechanical Engineering eligible for Membership of Engineers Australia Professional status.
      • A minimum of 5 years post-graduate experience in manufacturing/design or heavy engineering.
      • A comprehensive knowledge of machine design and drawing requirements, particularly mining equipment and its application.
      • Demonstrated skill in computer aided design (CAD/Inventor/Solid Works) & knowledge of FEA.
      • CPEng or RPEQ qualifications are highly desirable.
      • A knowledge of hydraulic systems and other related skills are highly desirable.
      • Experience meeting schedules and deadlines.
      • Familiarity with using Australian and International standards where applicable.
