- Analysis of power plant structures, pressure vessels, piping systems, rotating equipment, and other power plant components using classical and numerical methods.
- Performing fracture mechanics and stress analyses according to ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code guidelines.
- Supporting the finite element analysis team.
- Supporting fatigue management programs for various components.
- Participating in design and repair projects of pressure vessel and piping components.
- BSc in Mechanical Engineering or a similar discipline (MS preferred).
- 3+ years of related engineering experience with a BS degree or 1+ years with an MS degree.
- Proficiency with ANSYS Workbench.
- Knowledge of ASME BPV Code (Section III and Section XI).
- Strong technical writing and communication skills.
- EIT Certification (PE License preferred).
Job Description
Structural Integrity Associates, Inc. (SIA) is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our Nuclear business unit.
The ideal candidate will possess a background in mechanics/structural engineering and be responsible for engineering consulting work supporting the energy industry. The role will support project teams in stress analysis, fatigue and fracture mechanics, and related fields.
The work environment is a dynamic team based on project requirements. Each project team is usually led by an industry expert and composed of engineers from various disciplines such as fracture mechanics, stress analysis, structural dynamics, and material science.

Pay Range:
The expected salary range for this role in San Jose, CA, is $75,760 to $113,640 annually, commensurate with experience.
