Job Description

- Work with a cross functional engineering team and customers to develop basis of design for projects with regards to the mechanical engineering discipline.
- Review P&IDs, equipment lists, vendor cutsheets, contractor submittals, and detail design drawings and documents to ensure compliance and cohesion for the overall project requirements.
- Develop mechanical basis of design, equipment/piping specifications, equipment lists and data sheets, standards, calculation reports, technical reports, field surveys in conjunction with Process, Civil, Structural, Electrical, and I&C engineering teams to meet the intent of project requirements.
- Participate in mechanical inspections and factory acceptance testing (FAT) either prior to shipment or after installation on site.
- Participate in the analysis of existing rental equipment, to guarantee a proper performance under requirements in a new facility.
- Review vendor supplied equipment submittal packages to ensure compliance and functionality are in line with project requirements and company standards and/or specifications.
- Manage mechanical and fire sprinkling subconsultants for balance of plant design engineering deliverables, including review of their drawings, calculations, and other documentation.
- Coordinate the development of subconsultant designs with internal cross-functional engineering team, including maintaining schedule, coordination meetings, and 3D model integration.
- Assist in the review and compilation of building permit plan sets, environmental compliance deliverables, and associated packages as applicable.
- Provide input and coordinate with the process design and sales efforts to ensure best practices and company standards are being adhered to.
- Design, prepare and check construction drawings, including but not limited to; Equipment and piping general arrangement, plans, sections, installation drawings and details.
- Responsible for the mentoring of junior mechanical engineers/designers/drafters (as needed).
- Responsible for assuring mechanical engineering deliverables are prepared under pre-established methodologies, procedures, and techniques.
- Responsible for support of mechanical team leader to maintain and update standards, details, design guides, calculation tools, trainings, and templates inherent to the mechanical discipline.
- Responsible for technical assistance as required during construction and commissioning, including extended travel to project site location.
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Experience with the engineering process and knowledge and practical application of universally accepted engineering standards inherent to the mechanical discipline.
- Strong problem solving ability with ability to work across teams and organizations to find solutions.
- Ability to complete domestic and international travel, up to 25%.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in mechanical engineering or similar field.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills, time management skills and customer service skills.
- PE license
- Graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Broad knowledge and expertise in pumps and piping.
- Knowledge of water treatment processes and projects.
- Proven track record in leadership as well as the ability to develop, implement and document to standard engineering practices.
- Ability to sit at workstation using computer/phone.
- Regularly required to move around the facility.
- Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
