      Basic Qualifications

      • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Physics
      • Experience taking a design through its entire life cycle from requirements development through concept creation, detailed design, analysis, engineering release, build, and implementation
      • Proven understanding of mechanical systems, schematics, and engineering drawings
      • Proficient in 3D and 2D CAD software, preferably Creo, and proper use of GD&T

      Seeking a skilled problem solver who can break down complex multidisciplinary problems using engineering fundamentals and then apply practical knowledge to develop cost effective, robust solutions using commercially available components. In this position, you will design and analyze mechanical fixtures, mechanisms, and pressurized fluid systems to support the research, development, and testing of aerospace components and systems in a propulsion test lab environment.
      Key Duties:
      • Interfaces and collaborates with various LM programs to develop and refine design requirements
      • Designs and analyzes solutions from concept through detailed final design
      • Coordinates and works integrally with other mechanical, electrical, software, and test engineers across labs and on programs to ensure a complete working solution
      • Develops 2D and 3D CAD representations of design solutions
      • Generates engineering drawings and oversees them through procurement, in-house fabrication, assembly, and end use
      • Evaluates, communicates with, and prepares specifications for external vendors
      • Plans, coordinates, and communicates project schedules and procurement activities
      • Assists technicians during system fabrication, assembly, checkout, and validation and leads troubleshooting efforts

      Desired skills

      • Strong organizational and communication skills
      • Ability to communicate complex technical ideas to an audience with varied technical backgrounds
      • Experience with ASME Pressure Vessel and Process Piping codes, welding codes, and other industrial codes and guidance
      • Laboratory experience and knowledge of various instrumentation technologies for measurement of parameters such as pressure, temperature, flow rate, acceleration, velocity, displacement
      • Knowledge and understanding of commercially available solutions and fabrication processes
      • Willingness to take ownership of jobs and work beyond assigned position to successfully complete them

      Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

      National Pay Statement

      Pay Rate:
      The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Washington or Washington DC is $100,400 - $192,500. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
      Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays.
      (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.

      This position is incentive plan eligible.

      Premium Pay Statement

      Pay Rate:

For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.
