      Position Overview:

      Novelis in Greensboro, GA has an opportunity to participate in our on-site summer 2025 internship. The Engineering, Maintenance, Reliability, and Automations (EMRA) team is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern that can join the team for approximately 12 weeks. The person in this role will have the opportunity to participate in relevant work and gain hands on industry experience. The intern will report to the Engineering Leader and will gain experience with project management, CAD designing, and the implementation of various tools and pieces of equipment with a focus on the work management process.

      An engineering intern at the Novelis Greensboro site will work for the EMRA team in support of aluminum production in conjunction with the Operations and Process teams. An intern will have the opportunity to see the inner workings of large industrial machinery and systems, both from a mechanical perspective during repairs and/or maintenance, and from a program logic perspective while working with our Automations Team. An intern will gain meaningful experience and insight into industrial systems, machinery operation and reliability, electrical systems, industrial burners and furnaces, and molten metal practices.

      Responsibilities:

      • Support the EMRA team throughout the plant with improvements, maintenance, and repairs
      • Develop improvement for general engineering processes
      • Use CAD to design various tools/equipment and see through to implementation, if possible
      • Generate reports and records of changes or improvements made; communicate reports and results to supervisor and other relevant plant personnel
      • Work with outside contractors to scope/spec new, improved equipment for plant operations
      • Work with cross-functional teams (Process, Operations, EHS, etc.) to develop new protocols pertaining to safety initiatives

      Minimum Qualifications:

      • Enrolled in an accredited 4-year University.
      • Must be a Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or recent Graduate.
      • Interested in gaining hands-on industry experience prior to graduation.
      • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
      • Must be currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer
      • Commitment to industrial safety and safe working practices

      Preferred Qualifications:

      • Prefer students majoring in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Reliability, Electrical, Applied Engineering, or a related field
      • Solid business insight
      • High interest in becoming an Engineer in a manufacturing environment
      • Experience with mechanical systems and hand tools a plus
      • Experience with CAD programs a plus
      • Strong leadership and teamwork skills

      Location Profile

      Novelis’ Greensboro facility is located in Greensboro Georgia. With 140 employees it is the first stand-alone used beverage can recycling facility in the company now responsible for pioneering a majority of Novelis’ recycling technologies.
