      The Mechanical Engineering Intern is responsible for supporting component and subsystem level design work to support the Fueling Solutions organization’s project initiatives. You will collaborate with cross functional groups within the business to ensure mechanical/hydraulic designs satisfy all necessary requirements including performance, cost, quality, manufacturability, scalability, etc. You will combine your theoretical engineering background with practical industry knowledge to design, test, and launch customer-focused solutions. This role offers a balanced mix of computer-based work (3D CAD modeling, design documentation, etc.) and in-person, hands-on experience (prototype builds, testing, etc.). This hybrid role allows some remote work, but employees must be able to come into the office as needed at the manager’s discretion. Certain work assignments and projects will allow more remote work than others.

      In this role, you will work in a hybrid capacity (remotely and onsite in Greensboro, NC):

      • Support the design, development, and execution of mechanical, hydraulic, and electromechanical hardware solutions to address business needs.
      • Collaborate with peers, electrical, software, and mechanical engineering teams, operations, laboratory, quality assurance and others as needed to produce game changing solutions.
      • Be part of the team leading engineering and product sustainment to ensure customer and business success.
      • Selects and specifies materials and processes for use in final products.
      • Analyzes stress, deflection, and fluid flow characteristics using engineering principles, calculations, and simulation tools.
      • Utilizes Product Dev., Agile, Lean development methodologies, and effectively operates with a global mindset.
      • Applies appropriate project management techniques to ensure on-time delivery, quality, and cost.
      • Constructs prototype and proof of concept models for formal engineering design reviews.

      On your first day, we’ll expect that you’ll have:

      • Working towards an engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
      • Familiarity with Mechanical, Hydraulic, and Electromechanical Design concepts.
      • Ability to communicate and work in a cross-functional team environment.
      • Ability to work in the applications of MS Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word (MS Tools).
      • Ability to work in computer aided design applications such as, but not limited to Creo, Inventor, and SolidWorks.
