      Summary and relationship to the curriculum: All classified positions will strengthen the delivery of instruction to support the system mission statement. This position performs routine clerical and library duties in the school media center.

      Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

      1. Catalogues media resources; processes new books, audio-visual materials, periodicals, equipment, and other materials.

      1. Operates computer to circulate and locate materials, accesses information, generates reports, and conduct inventory.

      1. Assists teachers and students in locating print and non print informational resources.

      1. Repairs print and nonprint materials.

      1. Operates various equipment associated with the media center; assists students and staff with the use of media center equipment.

      1. Reshelves returned media materials.

      1. Generates a list of overdue materials, issues notices, and receives overdue fines, if applicable.

      1. Assists in inventory of materials and equipment.

      1. Oversees library assistants.

      1. Attends training and other workshops as designated by supervisor.

      1. Prepares reports, files, and such on a timely and regular basis.

      1. Answers phone and relays messages.

      1. Operates computer on a daily basis with reasonable accuracy and speed.

      1. Photocopies documents.

      1. Monitors behavior of students in the media center; assists with supervision of students.

      1. Prepares off-air taping of educational television programming.

      1. Performs other duties as assigned by appropriate supervisor.

      Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.       1. Education and/or Experience: High School diploma or general education degree (GED); basic keyboarding, some bookkeeping and phone duties; or one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

      1. Language Skills: Must have ability to read and comprehend job specific technical information, simple instructions, short correspondence, memos and position specific manuals. Must have ability to write correspondence and reports. Must have ability to effectively articulate and present information in one-on-one and small group situations.

      1. Mathematical Skills: Must have ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole number, common fractions, and decimals. Must have ability to conduct position related data analysis. Must have ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

      1. Reasoning Ability: Must be able to facilitate the problem solving processes. Must have ability to synthesize workable options from given facts, and assist in the development of workable solutions.

      1. Technical Ability: Must have considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office and other job specified technologies.

      1. Customer Service Skills: Must be able to interact effectively with colleagues, administrators, teachers, staff members, students using tactful yet effective skills. Must collaborate well with others and display a cooperative attitude. Must be service oriented and actively seek ways to assist others.

      Professional Requirements: Must serve as a role model to students. Appropriate dress and grooming consistent with established standards required.

      Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

      While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, and lift. Occasionally, the employee must crouch or kneel. The employee must be able to exert or lift up to 50 pounds.

      Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Frequent travel involves exposure to traffic and outdoor elements.

      Travel to home sites, school sites, and other locations is required.

      While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently working in outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
