Job Description

- Assists with transferring raw data to the appropriate location for use in data analysis projects;
- Utilizes existing documentation and guidance from senior staff to wrangle, clean, and validate agency data sources;
- Contributes to general analysis of agency datasets;
- Conducts data quality checks to ensure the validity and cleanliness of agency datasets prior to their use in analysis and reporting;
- Interprets data and from multiple sources using a variety of analytical techniques, ranging from simple data aggregation to data mining, to supporting statistical methodologies;
- Develops compelling data visualizations to communicate findings to target audience(s);
- Adheres to HIPAA, PII, PHI and other state statutes concerned with protecting data confidentiality and individual privacy.
- a Associate’s Degree with some experience, or
- at least 2+ years of experience applying the below, outlined knowledge, skills, and abilities in a similar role.
- Experience with data manipulation, including cleansing, standardizing, and transforming;
- Knowledge of statistical software, open-source programming languages, and database querying or demonstrated ability to learn;
- Experience with SQL, Tableau, R, Python, PowerBI, and/or ArcGIS;
- Strong analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities;
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written;
- Broad knowledge of data analysis, analytics, or statistics or demonstrated ability to learn;
- Ability to work in a team environment with multiple and fluid demands;
- Ability to maintain effective and professional working relationships with internal and external customers.

The Office of Medicaid Policy and Planning (OMPP) is a division within the Family and Social Services Administration, which receives around 13 percent of the state's budget to ensure vital health care coverage to approximately 1 in 5 Hoosiers. Salary: This position traditionally starts at an annual salary of $55,224.00. Salary for this position may be commensurate with education and job experience.
Role Overview : This role, Medicaid Data Reporting Analyst, will serve as a subject matter and technical expert for Healthy Indiana Plan, Children's Health Insurance Program, Hoosier Care Connect, and future managed care program federal and state reporting requests. Your role assists and supports the Reporting Manager to implement various aspects of IN Health Coverage Programs (IHCP) 1115 or 1915 Waivers. Your role collaborates with the Data and Analytics (D&A) group and the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) to submit and track data requests.
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in public health, Data Analytics, Epidemiology, statistics/biostatistics or a related field; or an associate degree and a minimum of 2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. This candidate should be proficient with Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with data analytic and visualization software or statistical software a plus.A Day in the Life:
