      The Clinical Intern (Unpaid) offers practical work experience as an unlicensed medical professional training to perform clinical and administrative functions within the medical center. This role serves as an opportunity to gain knowledge of ins-and-outs of the center and organization. The incumbent in this role, while training to perform clinical duties under the direct supervision of a care team member is also responsible for assisting the staff within his/her designated Center/Center of Excellence (COE) with general office duties including, but not limited to, data entry, filing and other administrative support tasks. He/She is expected to learn the daily routines and procedures of their designated Center/COE and to focus on learning how the physician-led care team supports the company’s vision and mission. This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the healthcare industry.

      ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

      • Assists with and/or shadows a care team member while performing the following patient care duties:
        • Measuring and recording vitals and medical history
        • Preparing exam rooms for patient examinations and observations
        • Performing lab tests and collecting specimens
        • Conducting routine patient care tasks, including, but not limited to: changing dressings, and first aid and CRP procedures as needed
        • Communicating patient needs with Provider
      • Answers phone inquiries, directs calls and provides basic company information.
      • Performs clerical duties, takes memos, maintains files and organizes documents; photocopy, fax, etc. as needed.
      • Assists in preparing information and examination materials
      • Takes notes and memos during meetings; prepares documents, drafts, and reports; sorts and manages files.
      • Runs general Center/COE related errands.
      • Updates databases and inputs information, data and records.
      • Attends center functions, events and activities.
      • Performs other duties as assigned and modified at manager’s discretion.

      KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

      • Knowledge of medical products and basic clinical terminology, services, standards, policies and procedures
      • High degree of organizational skill and problem-solving ability; specifically, the ability to work as self-starter - especially as it relates to calling on resources
      • Resourcefulness in finding information and answers from within the company without prompting or micromanagement
      • Respect for details; ability to execute accurately at a high level without excess supervision
      • Ability to prioritize/execute to achieve desired company and project goals with prudence and sense of urgency
      • Exceptional customer service skills and highly dependable & flexible
      • Excellent telephone etiquette, communication and organizational skills, as well as, articulate written and verbal communication skills
      • Desire to learn and grow professionally grow
      • Energetic and eager to tackle new projects and ideas

      • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, plus a variety of other word-processing, spreadsheet, database, e-mail and presentation software
      • Ability and willingness to travel locally up to 10% of the time
      • Spoken and written fluency in English

      EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE CRITERIA:

      • High school diploma or equivalent required. Must be enrolled in an accredited university/college/vocational program
      • Must be at least 17 years of age
      • Graduation or graduating from a nationally accredited Medical Assistant or Patient Care Technician program OR comparable healthcare vocational training (i.e., foreign-trained physician, paramedic, etc.) required
      • This is a continuous appointment, initially lasting up to 6 months with potential to extend
      • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AMA) or American Red Cross required w/in first 90 days of employment
