Under the direction of the HIM Operations Manager this position performs physician chart completion duties including but not limited to the following:
•Performs final qualitative analysis on all discharged medical records to ensure compliance with Medical Staff Bylaws as well as regulatory and accreditation requirements.
•Interacts and communicates with physicians to assist with deficient and delinquent medical record completion
•Monitors daily operating room and admission schedules for concurrent Operative Note and History and Physical chart reviews and deficiency assignment
•Completes daily and weekly incomplete record notices and warnings to the Medical Staff
•Creates and maintains a variety of reports and notifications using Microsoft Office, the electronic health record, and email
•Facilitates the completion of death certificates
•Scans post discharge medical record documentation into the electronic health record
•Other duties as assigned
Education – A High School Diploma or GED is required. Associate's degree in Health Information or technology is preferred.
Experience – A Minimum of one-year Medical Records experience is required. A minimum of two years of acute care Medical Records experience is preferred.
Licensure/Certification – RHIT – Registered Health Information Technician is preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities – Good organizational skills with attention to detail. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to use computer terminal for prolonged periods. Ability to work with Microsoft Office Suite at an intermediate level. Ability to work in an environment that is conducive to frequent distractions and interruptions. Ability to work under time constraints. Excellent public relations and communication skills. Excellent phone etiquette. Good judgment when dealing with others. Sound decision-making and problem-solving skills.
