What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Assign appropriate CPT and ICD-10 codes for professional services and office procedures
- Assist providers with coding updates and education
- Collaborate with billing office staff on coding-related denials and inquiries
- Conduct audits of patient charts for coding assessment and compliance
- Maintain knowledge of current state and federal coding guidelines

What is Required (Qualifications):
- Associate’s Degree in Health Information Technology preferred
- Minimum of two years of professional and Evaluation & Management (E&M) coding experience
- Experience in pain management coding preferred
- Proficiency in using 3M coding software and electronic health record systems
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written

How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Certification as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or Certified Coding Specialist-Physician-based (CCS-P)
- Previous experience interacting with insurance payors
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently
- Interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with staff and outside contacts
