What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Travel to hospitals to collect physician encounter data
- Review hospital service data to assign ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes for billing
- Ensure accurate and prompt reimbursement by reviewing patient demographic and financial information
- Provide positive and effective customer service that supports departmental operations
- Conduct coding audits and manage insurance denials based on diagnosis codes
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in healthcare billing/coding
- Professional Billing Coding certification (CPC, CCS-P) required
- Knowledge of medical coding and billing national standards
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to use Microsoft Office products and analyze information effectively
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Familiarity with payer medical coding and billing requirements
- Ability to work independently and carry out assignments to completion
- Experience in a fast-paced healthcare environment
