      About the Program and Position:

      Our Transitional Foster Care Program for Unaccompanied Children (UC) overseen by the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR), ensures the well-being and safety of unaccompanied children (ages 0-17) who cross the US Southern border without an adult. Unlike traditional congregate care settings, our approach involves placing unaccompanied children in foster homes while diligently searching for and assessing potential sponsors identified in the US. During their stay with us, we provide medical care, case management, engaging life skills classes, and essential mental health services.

      Cayuga Centers seeks a compassionate individual for the Medical Coordinator role in the UC-TFC program. The Medical Coordinator will assist the medical provider to support the medical, safety and well-being of every child in care and ensure compliance with established regulatory agencies and federal standards requirements.This role will use sound medical and professional judgment to promote best practices and deliver quality care.

      How you get to use your skills…
      • Update and maintain accurate and up-to-date UC portal case files and records with information pertaining to nursing care, child’s medical history, consult notes, treatment plans, and observations; document all pertinent information in the UC portal case files/records in accordance to agency policy and licensing standards
      • Completion of required documentation including but not limited to: treatment authorization requests (TAR’s), Child Level Events (CLE), assembly of discharge packets
      • Working knowledge of and updating pertinent spreadsheets
      • Knowledge and experience of working with current electronic medical record system (Medent)
      • Responds in a positive and respectful manner to diversity, among the agency’s service population and staff.

      Required Experience:

      • High school diploma/GED required
      • Knowledge of medical office environment, workflow, and terminology
      • Strong knowledge and experience working with Microsoft Office and Google Suite
      • Experience working with at-risk youth - strongly preferred
      • Strong communication, human relation, and organizational skills - required
      • Bi-lingual English-Spanish - required
      • Ability to work effectively in a team context
      • Ability to work independently and in collaboration with agency healthcare providers and nursing support staff
      • Demonstrated ability to perform duties with minimal supervision and to exercise greater judgment

      Schedule:

      • Non-Exempt
      • Regular hours entail Monday - Friday 9am-5pm
      • Must be flexible to meet program needs
      • Weekend and evening on-call hours required
      • Holidays may be required
      • 160 hours of vacation time; 12 Sick Days per year
