      Medical Director – Child & Adolescent Psychiatry

      Full-Time | Columbus Behavioral Center | Columbus, Indiana (Near Indianapolis)

      Columbus Behavioral Center for Children and Adolescents is a 56-bed, private residential behavioral health facility located in Columbus, Indiana—just 45 minutes south of Indianapolis. Set on 6.5 fully-fenced acres, our secure and therapeutic environment is designed to support the mental health needs of male and female youth ages 8–18.

      We are currently seeking a full-time Medical Director to lead our child and adolescent psychiatry services. This is a rewarding opportunity for a compassionate, experienced psychiatrist to make a lasting impact in a supportive, multidisciplinary care environment.

      Position Highlights:

      • Role: Medical Director, Child and Adolescent Residential Treatment Program
      • Location: On-site at Columbus Behavioral Center, Columbus, Indiana
      • Schedule: Full-time; Employed or Independent Contractor
      • Treatment Settings: Residential and Intensive Outpatient (IOP) Programs
      • Responsibilities Include:
        • Leadership and oversight of psychiatric treatment services
        • Supervision of staff PMHNPs
        • Participation in clinical call rotation
        • Collaboration with clinical and administrative teams
        • Ensure compliance with UHS policies and healthcare regulations
        • Contribute to the strategic planning and program development

        Qualifications:

        • Active Indiana medical license or eligibility to obtain
        • MD or DO from an accredited medical school
        • Board Certified in Psychiatry (Child & Adolescent Psychiatry preferred)
        • 3–5 years of clinical psychiatric experience required
        • Leadership experience in a psychiatric or behavioral health setting preferred
        • Ability to supervise Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners (PMHNPs)
        • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills

        About Columbus Behavioral Center for Children and Adolescents

        At Columbus Behavioral Center, we provide evidence-based residential treatment for youth ages 8 to 18 facing serious behavioral health challenges, substance use disorders, and frequent psychiatric hospitalizations. Our family-focused programs deliver individualized care plans, trauma-informed therapy, and 24/7 clinical support to help youth achieve emotional stability and behavioral change.

        Specialized Programming Includes:

        • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Residential Program for girls ages 12–18
        • Structured clinical programming focused on reducing self-harm, suicidal ideation, and impulsive behaviors
        • Average length of stay: 3 to 9 months, tailored to individual progress

        We work closely with families and community partners to ensure a successful transition back home or into an appropriate level of continued care.
