  In compliance with applicable State regulatory authorities, vaccination for COVID-19 and Influenza (flu) is mandatory for all MSK staff who do not work 100% remotely (including new hires ). Staff are considered fully vaccinated upon completion of a primary vaccination series for COVID-19 Exceptions from the COVID-19 vaccine requirement are permitted for those who request and receive an approved medical, religious, or fully remote exemption. Requests for exemption can take up to two weeks to review. Vaccination or an approved medical exemption is required to start work.

  Job Description

  We have an exciting opportunity for a Medical Dosimetrist (Hybrid: Remote/Onsite) to join the team in the Department of Medical Physics!

  Under the supervision of a Chief or Lead Physicist, the incumbent will provide treatment planning support for patients receiving external beam radiotherapy.

  This Hybrid position will work primarily remotely! Experienced candidates preferring primarily remote work must have the ability to travel to an MSK facility 0 - 10 days per year in situations where onsite participation may be required.

  You Will:

  • Provide radiation physics support related to graphical planning and dose calculation for Radiation Oncology patients.
  • Obtain, interpret, and use patient-specific information vital for treatment planning. This includes the physician’s prescription indicating the part of the body to be treated and the dose to be delivered.
  • Consult with radiation oncologists and therapists as needed throughout the planning process.
  • Radiation Therapy Simulation and Treatment Delivery: Advise and interpret pertinent information obtained during simulation. Ensure correct implementation of radiation treatment plans.
  • Participate in quality assurance procedures. Review of dose calculations, documentation, and patient records consistent with established guidelines.
  • Teach and demonstrate principles of treatment planning, treatment planning systems, and departmental policies and procedures to junior staff, post-doctoral fellows, and others as directed.
  • Prepare and give talks/lectures/case presentations and participate in departmental staff meetings and in-service training sessions.
  • Participate in continuing education activities for personal growth and maintenance of certification.
  • Assist colleagues in testing new procedures and treatment techniques. Include learning experiences that stretch and build capabilities by requesting new assignments.
  • Treat patients, clients, and Center employees who depend on the quality, accuracy, and timeliness of the work as unique individuals and focus on understanding and meeting their needs.

  You Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (physics or physical science preferred).
  • Certification or eligibility for certification by the Medical Dosimetry Certification Board. (Dosimetrist I may be board eligible and must be CMD within 4 years of full work experience; Dosimetrist II or III must be board certified.)
  • Strong communication skills to resolve radiotherapy-related issues.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
  • A strong understanding of the principles of physics.
  • Certification by MDCB with two or more years of full-time experience (former full-time RTT experience may be credited.)

  Hours vary between 7am and 11pm, Monday-Friday, with flexibility as needed.
