      The Medical Records Clerk is responsible for Process Release of Information Requests. Perform Chart Assembly to ensure 100% compliance. Perform other duties as assigned based on the needs of the facility.

      Key Responsibilities include:

      • The Medical Records Clerk key responsibilities consists of the following;Is willing to assume additional responsibilities as assigned.
        Maintains confidentiality of former and current patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
      • Respects and safeguards the confidentiality and privacy of Hospital and co-worker information.
      • Maintains composure during stressful interactions.
      • Demonstrates willingness to accept changes in job responsibilities.
      • Maintains a positive working relationship with co-workers. Demonstrates a “team player” approach.
      • Copies and mails/faxes records for requests needed immediately.
      • Answers the telephone and provides assistance or receives messages, as appropriate.
      • communicate effectively, orally and written, with staff and physicians in a professional and cooperative manner regarding the process of release of confidential information and incomplete medical records.
      • demonstrate ability to utilize various computer programs including, but not limited to, Microsoft Word and Excel.
      • accurately file documents into individual medical records
      • assist with general medical records department functions including purging of records, loose filing, etc.
      • assemble charts upon discharge.
      • carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
      • perform all other duties as assigned by the Director or designee.

      Qualifications

      Position Requirements:

      • High school diploma or equivalent required. Graduate of an accredited school of Medical Record Technology highly preferred.
      • Previous experience in a hospital setting is preferred. 1-3 years of experience specifically in Medical Records preferred.
      • Must be detail-oriented.
      • Must possess strong organizational skills.
      • Must love to file!
      • Extensive walking.
      • Requires the ability to work independently and as part of a team without continuous supervision.
