Job Description
- Req#: 15569
- Report directly to the Program Coordinator to ensure alignment with departmental goals.
- Provide professional medical interpretation services for patients and healthcare staff.
- Accurately convey medical and related information between individuals who speak different languages.
- Maintain strict adherence to hospital protocols and procedures.
- Uphold patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA and institutional guidelines.

- A Bachelor’s Degree in a science, language, or human services area is required.
- Fluency in English is required.
- Specific training or experience in medical interpretation is required.
- Must be a “qualified” Medical Interpreter with a minimum of 40 hours of interpreter training.
- Certification through the National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters is required, or must be obtained within twelve (12) months of hire.
- Must have an understanding of diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well under pressure are required.
- Additional related experience, education, or training may be substituted for the degree.

Compensation (NJ Job Transparency Law)
The expected salary range for this position is PS/20S: $55,955.00 - $79,709.00 per year, in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Law; final compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
