  Inova Fair Oaks Hospital is seeking a PRN Medical Lab Technician 2 to join the team. This position is working PRN, Days and Shifts may vary

  Medical Lab Technician 2 Job Responsibilities:

  • The Medical Laboratory Technician 2 ensures quality specimens for Laboratory testing by recognizing pre-analytical factors that adversely affect patient results.
  • Communicates effectively and work cooperatively with team members to optimize job performance and foster working relationships.
  • Demonstrating a knowledge of operational/regulatory standards.
  • Operates systems/methodologies in order to produce timely and accurate data for patients, quality control and proficiency testing.
  • Participates in professional growth opportunities to enhance personal, team and departmental development by demonstrating operational knowledge and adhering to regulatory standards.
  • May perform additional duties as assigned.

  Medical Lab Technician 2 Requirements:

  • Work Schedule: PRN: Days and Shifts may vary
  • Education: Associate's Degree in science from a college/university recognized by regional or national accreditation agency. Other acceptable forms of education will follow the guidelines of American Society for Clinical Pathology or American Medical Technologists Board certification.
  • Experience: Successful completion of a National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Science or Accredited Bureau of Health Education Schools accredited Medical Lab Technician program., or a foreign medical laboratory science clinical training program within the last 12 months can be used in lieu of 1 year of full time acceptable clinical experience.
  • Certifications:
    • Certified Medical Lab Technician(MLT) from American Medical Technologists Board required upon start OR
    • Certified Medical Lab Technician(MLT) from American Society for Clinical Pathology required upon start.
