Associate of Science in Medical Laboratory Technician from a regionally accredited school or program that is recognized by ASCP.
Eligible to take the ASCP or equivalent certification board exam as a Medical Laboratory Technician. Must pass the exam within 1 year of hire or eligible date.
Previous clinical laboratory experience
ASCP certification
- Manages and maintains inventory per rules and regulations including PPE safety equipment/supplies.
- Utilizes laboratory computer systems to order tests, generate and analyze results, track and retrieve specimens, and document communication.
- Performs quality control and calibrations, taking corrective action as needed; maintains and facilitates repair of analyzers, lab equipment, and automation equipment
- Analyzes and processes blood, urine, spinal fluid, body fluids, and other biological specimens in assigned section(s).
- Communicates technical information about specimen collection, sample transport and identification, required documents, test methods, and other related technical information to RN's, physicians and laboratory clients.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
