      Job Description

      Medical Physicist - Clinical Training & Education – INDIA & Subcontinent

      SUMMARY:

      The primary responsibility of the Clinical Training & Education Team member will be to train and support end users and distributors in EIMEA (Europe, India, Middle east, Africa) on clinical application and physics.

      He/she is a well-rounded performer and decision maker in routine aspects of clinical applications and physics quality assurance (QA) procedures as related to the safe and effective use of Accuray systems.

      This position requires good interaction with diverse group of customers, the ability to effectively transfer information, a commitment to careful data analysis and patient safety, capacity to make decisions in routine cases, as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills.

      He/She will work closely with the Sales, Marketing, R&D, and Service department on a variety of cross-functional projects. He/she will act as a subject matter expert and review various training related materials.

      Significant travel (up to but not limited to 60%) is expected for on-site training and support activities at customer sites.

      ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

      Customer Training, Support Duties and Responsibilities

      • Develop a thorough understanding of all radiation beam measurements and other product specific tests necessary to support Accuray systems, as well as the tolerances of those measurements and the potential clinical impact of each parameter.
      • Train customers in the use of Accuray systems including, but not limited to machine QA, absolute dose calibration and applicable alignment and accuracy tests. As necessary, explains basic and advance planning as well as patient treatment workflow to individuals responsible for patient planning and treatment.
      • Leverage the physics knowledge and clinical experiences to support the sales/marketing department to enhance further company advantages, including, but not limited to equipment demonstrations at professional trade shows.
      • Participates to the Remote training and Support activities as required,
      • Responds to customer enquiries and Clinical and Physics issues in a timely and professional fashion, following the procedures and ensuring proper tracking and documentation of support activities.
      • Supports development of training curriculum and the implementation of policies and procedures to ensure efficient and safe operation of the Accuray equipment, as requested.
      • Demonstrates a commitment to keeping up to date with new products, product improvements, software, and procedures relevant to Accuray customers.
      • Ensures customer issues are correctly reported and resolved, understanding and representing the concerns of the customer.
      • Assists with the translation and translation review of manuals and documents.
      • Travels to customer sites for training but also to assist in the resolution of systems and/or patient-specific QA issues.

      Safety and Quality

      • Follows required procedures and protocols and revises procedures through correct channels when changes are desired or necessary.
      • Conducts appropriate physics verification activities on hardware and software designs and design changes.
      • Ensures safety and quality considerations and requirements are proactively addressed and implemented to meet regulatory requirements.
      • Addresses and reports in a timely manner all safety and quality issues raised by customers or staff.
      • Support the Accuray Quality System and Health Program by adhering to documented procedures.
      • Radiation safety: as required, perform calibration checks and radiation surveys of Accuray systems. Calculates or verifies the radiation exposure levels for the appropriate areas inside and surrounding treatment bunkers and can advise on appropriate shielding and verification activities.

      REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

      • Master’s degree or equivalent as minimum in engineering or physics required.
      • 3-5 years of prior experience in Radiation Oncology or in Commercial company as a Medical Physicist.
      • Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to develop positive business relationships internally and externally at all levels.
      • Ability to determine the learning styles of various audiences and follow through with training and feedback solutions. Capable of presenting confidently before a large audience and a panel of experts.
      • Self-starter, strong organizational skills and Team player, work collaboratively, sharing information and experience to foster team growth.
      • Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
      • Strong basic computer skills, including but not limited to the use of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio) are required.
      • Fluent in English. Another European Language is a plus.
      • Employees can expect to travel up to but not limited to 60% depending upon the employee location (local or remote) and business needs.
