      Job summary

We are looking for a permanent full time Medical Receptionist/Deputy Team Leader to join our team based at The Robert Darbishire Practice, the largest and busiest of the three GP practices in the Better Health MCR Primary Care Network. The post is 37.5 hours per week, Monday Friday 10:00 18:30.

The postholder will be required to work flexibly and to provide cover for absence and busy periods. As part of this, they may be required to work Saturdays. There may also be a requirement for the postholder to work at our other practices from time to time.

Salary will be within the range £25,415 £28,406 depending on experience. We offer up to 6 weeks holiday plus bank holidays (pro rata) and optional membership of the NHS Pension Scheme.

      Main duties of the job

The Medical Receptionist/Deputy Reception Team Leader will support the reception team in providing a service to patients. Our reception teams are the first point of contact for our patients and play an important role in understanding patients needs, resolving queries, dealing with prescription requests and either booking an appointment with the most appropriate clinician at the practice or signposting the patient to a service outside the practice. Like all GP practices though, the onset of COVID in 2020 has meant that we have had to make important changes to the way we provide our services. Most of our contacts with patients are now done remotely (either by telephone or online), so the number of patients actually coming into the practice is significantly reduced.

The supervisory responsibilities of the Medical Receptionist/Deputy Reception Team Leader role will include monitoring patient demand and ensuring staff are correctly deployed, as well as arranging the staff rota and providing staff training. You will also carry out any duties delegated by the Team Leader and deputise in the absence of the Team Leader.

  • About the company

National Health Service (NHS) is the umbrella term for the publicly-funded healthcare systems of the United Kingdom (UK). The founding principles were that services should be comprehensive, universal and free at the point of delivery—a health service based on clinical need, not ability to pay. Each service provides a comprehensive range of health services, free at the point of use for people ordinarily resident in the United Kingdom apart from dental treatment and optical care.
