Job summary
Are you wanting a rewarding patient focussed role?
Due to one of our long standing team relocating, Addingham Surgery are looking for a Medical Receptionist to join our small friendly team.
Ideally you will have current experience of working in a medical practice but this isn't essential as full training will be given. The successful candidate will be joining a patient centred training practice in a village setting and work as part of a team of seven experienced committed receptionists/administrators and our reception supervisor.
A minimum of 25.5 hours is needed worked over 4 days, Monday to Friday. Addingham Surgery is a modern purpose built premises with plenty of free car parking. The practice has 3,400 patients with a growing list. We have 2 GP's, an ACP, 2 practice nurses and a health care assistant and a number of attached staff to the practice such as pharmacists and physiotherapists. You will be responsible for undertaking a wide range of reception duties and the provision of general support to the multidisciplinary team.
Duties can include, not limited to, greeting and directing patients, effective use of the appointment system, booking appointments, the processing of information and assisting patients as required.
Act as chaperone for doctors as and when required
Main duties of the job
The following are the core responsibilities of the receptionist. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks. This will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels
Maintain and monitor the practice appointment system.Process personal, telephone and e-requests for appointments.Answer incoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers request appropriately.Signpost patients to the correct service
Initiating contact with and responding to, requests from patients, team members and external agencies
Clinically code data on system one
Photocopy documentation as required
Process tasks and notifications within the clinical system
Data entry of new and temporary registrations and relevant patient information as required
Input data into patients healthcare records as necessary
Direct requests for information, i.e., SAR, insurance/solicitors letters and DVLA forms and support with private report requests
Manage all queries as necessary in an efficient manner
Carry out system searches as requested
Ensure all pathology specimens are ready and collected by the courier
Maintain a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times
Advise patients of private fee charges, accept payment and issue receipts
Process prescription requests, hard copy and electronically
Maintain the reception area and notice boards
Support all clinical staff with general tasks as requested
About us
Addingham Surgery is a small friendly teaching practice with patient care at the heart of everything that we do. We have a team of clinicians comprising of 2 General Practitioner's, 1 Allied Clinical Practitioner, 2 nurses and a Health Care Assistant. We also work with a wider team of clinicians, such as physiotherapists, pharmacists and social prescribers. We have a very experienced team of receptionist, administrators and the practice is managed by the practice manager, assisted by a reception supervisor.
The work ethic is relaxed and focused and we are a high achiever on QOF. We always score very high on patient satisfaction and have an active and strong patient group. We gained a CQC rating of 'good' in July 2023.
