Job summary
We are looking for a team player who can work within our professional team of clinical and clerical staff helping to provide the best medical service we can for our patients
Main duties of the job
Main Purpose of post:
Provide a point of contact for patients and act as a focal point of communication between patients, doctors and other primary care staff.
Main duties and responsibilities:
1 Book appointments for patients both over the telephone and for patients presenting at the surgery.
2 Receive patients arriving at the surgery for appointments and deal with any queries.
3 Answer telephone enquiries and record messages from various sources for the information of the clinical team.
4 Generate computerised repeat prescriptions to be signed by the GP.
5 Accurately take details of acute prescriptions requested by patients.
6 Take part in any statutory training in person and on-line.
7 Attend practice team meetings.
8 Maintain medical records and filing system.
9 Ensure contents of handheld medical records are in chronological order.
10 Secure Emailing, photocopying and scanning of documents.
11 Assist in data input of patient records.
12 Add clinical information in patients electronic notes as advised by the clinician.
13 Ensure that any action required from hospital letters or clinical results are dealt with efficiently or passed onto an appropriate member of staff.
14 Work as a Team Member and adhere to the protocols of the surgery.
15 Always ensure patient confidentiality.

About us
At Woodlands we have a large patient list of around 15.000 patients. We have a compliment of staff from GP partners, Managerial staff, salaried GP's, paramedic, advanced nurse practitioner, Lead Nurse, practice nurses, health care assistants. nursing associate, GP assistants, long term condition coordinator's, medical receptionists and medical secretaries, with additional staff such as clinical pharmacist, Counsellor and MSK first contact practioner.

For the purpose of this policy a vulnerable adult is any person over the age of 18 years who is unable to take care of themselves or protect themselves from harm, crime, neglect or abuse.
