Job summary
We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic and reliable individual to join our busy practice team.
The successful applicant will act as first point of contact for patients, staff and visitors and must possess excellent interpersonal and organisational skills. The main duties will include booking appointments, taking telephone enquiries and undertaking reception duties all requiring extensive use of the computerised patient administration system.
The post holder should be a good team member but also be able to take responsibility and work on own when needed.
The ability to multi-task and be flexible is essential. There may be a requirement to work additional hours to cover holidays and sickness, this will be by agreement.
Hours of work are 25 hours to be worked over 5 days, Monday to Friday, 09.00-14.00.
Previous experience in a similar NHS environment preferred but not essential.
Interviews will take place week commencing 9th October 2023.
As this post involves contact with a vulnerable client group it has been designated as requiring a STANDARD disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service.

Main duties of the job
Booking, cancelling and revising appointments for patients for a variety of healthcare professionals within the health centre
Registering patient arrivals within the health centre
Answering the telephone, transferring calls and taking messages
Taking enquiries and requests for repeat medication from patients
Keeping waiting area a safe environment for all users
Dealing with incoming and outgoing post
Filing patient notes (both electronic and paper)
Dealing with new and temporary patient registrations
Ensuring all letters and samples are ready for courier collection
Updating patient demographic changes on system
Liaise with other support services when needed.
Any other reasonable duties.

Whitley Bay Health Centre are a large GP surgery in Whitley Bay, North Tyneside with a list size of approximately 13,000 patients, 8 doctors and 3 nurses. The practice provide medical services to the population of Whitley Bay and are based in Whitley Road in Whitley Bay.
