- Requires a high school education or equivalent. A Pharmacy Technician certification is preferred.
- Two years of previous pharmacy technician experience
- Knowledge and ability to perform basic mathematics is required.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and principles of drug distribution.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organization skills
- Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) systems
- Excellent communication and and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Familiarization with pharmacy stock and distribution procedures.
- Drug nomenclature.
- Dosage calculations.
- Commonly used drugs names.
- Uses of medications and the ability to read a prescription.
JOB SUMMARY:
To conduct medication histories for patients primarily admitted through the emergency department collaborating with various healthcare professionals under the direct supervision of a pharmacist. This person will also be responsible for updating home medication histories for patients on the general medical floors. No weekends. First shift, Monday through Friday, full time.
