What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Accurately code primary/secondary diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 coding conventions
- Ensure DRG/APC assignment accuracy and optimal reimbursement for home health or hospice services
- Educate physicians on coding practices and conventions
- Compile data from medical records for accurate coding and reimbursement
- Maintain knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology for effective coding
What is Required (Qualifications):
- High School Diploma required
- Active certification in Homecare Coding Specialist-Diagnosis (HCS-D), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), or related field
- Prior experience in homecare and hospice coding preferred
- Proficiency in ICD-10-CM & CPT-4 coding conventions
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- 2 years of coding experience for CPC or HCS-D certification
- 0-1 year of coding experience for RHIA or RHIT certification
