      What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
      - Abstract, sequence, and assign diagnosis and procedure codes according to ICD-10-CM and CPT4 coding conventions
      - Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory and compliance issues related to coding and billing
      - Communicate with physicians to clarify diagnoses and procedures
      - Perform quality control audits of coding work and assist with coder education and training
      - Provide leadership in decision-making and prioritization in the absence of the area supervisor

      What is Required (Qualifications):
      - Two years of occupationally specific education or an Associate's degree
      - Four years of acute care hospital-based inpatient coding experience
      - Current certification by AHIMA as a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) with CCS
      - Knowledge of coding, documentation, and billing regulations
      - Ability to conduct reviews of work done by new coders

      - Strong communication skills for physician interactions
      - Leadership experience in a coding environment
      - Prior experience with billing rejection audits
