- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum six (6) months of experience as a Medical Scribe or equivalent training, experience, and education.
- Working knowledge of the EHR system and Outlook required.
- Ability to read/interpret documents, write reports, and communicate clearly and concisely.
- Effective listening skills and ability to interface with the public required.
- Fast, accurate typing, transcription, filing, and phone skills required.
Salary Range: $21.44 - $33.16/hour. Actual compensation may vary based on geographic location, work experience, skill level, and education.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
The Medical Scribe acts as a personal assistant to the physician, performing all documentation functions in the EHR system accurately and in a timely manner. The Scribe accompanies the Physician into the patient examination room and transcribes the history, physical exam, and documents the encounter along with others present. They document all procedures performed and advice provided by the Physician.
Responsibilities include documenting physical examination findings and procedures, lab and radiographic results as dictated by the physician, and recording the correct timing of patient care activities. They also list diagnoses, symptoms, follow-up instructions, and prescriptions as dictated. Transcribing patient orders, including lab results, radiology tests, and medications, is also required.
The Scribe maintains knowledge of departmental standard operating procedures, which may include specialized instrumentation, Quality Control, and preventive maintenance. Performs other duties as assigned.
